How Do I Know This Is For Real?

My name is Wavell Cowan and I’m co-founder and Dean of the Vermont Small Business Training Center. I am a scientist, inventor and entrepreneur who has founded and operated a number of high tech small businesses over the past 45 years.

I became involved with “small” business education when I arrived in Vermont some 35 years ago. This became a challenge to identify what exactly in an educational sense would have helped me in my early years. I quickly came to appreciate that what normally passes for business education was largely unsuitable.

Over many years, based on my experience as a scientist and businessman, I came to understand and then test out educational ideas both in my own business and with members of the Vermont Small Business Network, a pioneering organization active from 1982 to 1996. In this way I met the challenge of coming up with better answers for small business education.

This ultimately achieved the approach we offer today through the Vermont Small Business Training Center. So I can say with considerable certainty that what we now offer is something that if it had been available to me when I started my first business, would have greatly reduced the time it took me to accomplish my business goals.

My suggestion is that you google my name where references will direct attention to various fragments of the life I have decribed. This should help convince you that what we offer is indeed for real.
